CAMBRIDGE-born poet Andrew Stephen has been interviewed for a feature that will appear in the Cambridge Independent newspaper next week (Wednesday, February 25).
Journalist Adrian Peel aksed the Hickathrift scribe about his latest book, Under A Norfolk Sky; his love of Norfolk and connections with it.
“He seemed interested that I felt I had returned home and asked me to relate my poetry to the landscape and my experiences while living here,” said Andrew.
“He asked about my Cambridge background, my love of Cambridge United and my famous photographer ancestor, William Bidwell Hunt, who featured in The Story In Your Eyes. I talked about how, as a teacher, I had encouraged children to explore and develop their own voice.
“We talked about the aims of Hickathrift Press, mentioned the reviews on Amazon and the story of yellowing poetry in a box file, which became my first book of poetry, Endless River. I talked about my English teachers, the collaborative aspect of the new book and the fact that I have had five books published since my 70th birthday.
- If you can’t get hold of a copy of the Cambridge Independent next Wednesday, no worries – we will run the story here, too.
